Symbol Manager

Overview

The Symbol Manager shows all of the Exchanges and Symbols known to IQBroker

To start the Symbol Manager, select from the main menu: Tools > Symbol Manager.

Select Exchange

When you open the Symbol Manager, the first step is to select the Exchange you want to view.

After you select an exchange, its information is shown.

On this page:

Schedule

The Schedule tab shows the opening hours of the exchange, both the Regular Trading Hours (RTH) and the Extended Trading Hours (ETH).

Holidays

The Holidays tab shows when the exchange is closed due to holidays.

Map

The Map tab shows which Data Connections support loading data from this exchange. Sometimes data providers use a non-standard code for an exchange; in that case, this code is specified here. In the screenshot below, the AIM exchange is supported by some of the data providers (e.g., Interactive Brokers), but not by some others.

Stocks / Indexes / Futures / Forex / ETFs / CFDs

Each of these tabs shows symbols of that type. For example, here are the Futures symbols in CME:

Each symbol has the following settings:

  • Symbol - the official Symbol ID as listed in the exchange
  • Name - the full symbol name
  • Currency - the currency in which the symbol is denominated
  • Tick - the smallest price movement for the symbol
  • Settings - detailed settings for the symbol (see below)

Futures symbols have the following additional settings:

  • Point - the contract point value
  • Margin - the initial margin requirements per contract as a percent of the contract price

Forex symbols have the following additional settings:

  • Base - the base currency code (the first one in the pair)
  • Quote - the quote currency code (the second one in the pair)
  • Pip - the smallest price movement for the symbol
  • Margin - the initial margin requirements per contract as a percent of the contract price

ETF symbols have the following additional settings:

  • Point - the contract point value
  • Margin - the initial margin requirements per contract as a percent of the contract price

Symbol Settings

When you click on the Settings button for a symbol, the Symbol Settings dialog appears.

Symbol Map

In some cases, different data connections use alternative codes to refer to a symbol. This table contains those codes. For example, in this screenshot you can see that IQFeed refers to the ES symbol using the code "@ES".

Splits / Dividends

These tabs appear only for Stocks and ETFs. They list Split and Dividend events for the symbol. IQBroker doesn't provide this information; if you wish to use it in your scripts then you should enter it in these tabs, and then you'll be able to access the data using the API.

Contracts

This tab appears only for Futures. It defines the logic that IQBroker uses to determine the Rollover and Expiration dates for the symbol's contracts.
